22-13-5 MMC

Scope
This information is representative of 22-13-5 stainless steel with 15% AL2O3 content by volume. The material is comparable to ASTM- F1314 (Hot Work). The reported properties are random samples from two process lots.

Significance and Use
The purpose of this information is to identify a significant improvement to standard 22-13-5 SS in strength and wear resistance and an alternative to forged 316LSS and F-75 cobalt-chrome product.

Mechanical Requirements
   Tensile Properties
The graphs of physical data compare the results of the 22-13-5 MMC to 22-13-5 forged product and 316L forged product tested to ASTM A 360 and ASTM F1314

Special Tests
Microstructure data is reported for informational purposes. Corrosion testing to ASTM- A262

Rationale
The 22-13-5 MMC is a viable alternative to many cast and forged products currently being manufactured. This material offers strength , corrosion resistance and wear resistance comparable to materials of much higher cost and does not require long lead times at the steel mill for cogging, rolling etc.
